Our custom-made pillows have a hidden zipper closure along one side. This makes the pillow more versatile than a traditional envelope-closure, because either side can be used as the front. The case is easily removable for cleaning. The size indicated is the size of the case. Our fluffy pillow insert is a down feather blend and is intentionally an inch or two larger than the case for maximum puffiness.
The original artwork document is hand-drawn in ink, in Francesco Ortenzi's signature high-contrast style.
Ortenzi's graphic design style references the earlier Art Nouveau movement, epitomized in this Manhattan bakery interior designed by Winold Reiss.

The design studio overlooking Lake Como was founded in 1955 by Italian artist Francesco Ortenzi and his brother-in-law Paolo Farkas, who fled from Hungary during the war. They were known for graphic two-color textile designs, and their work was used widely on many projects from interiors, to fashion, to ceramics. Their studio was a pioneer in the Como textile industry, and later became an art academy that welcomed students worldwide from the 1960s-1990s.
Deceptively classic at first glance, the art contains eight distinct motifs, including fleur de lis, paisley, and a 1960s pop art daisy. The print ground is a dotted stipple visual texture reminiscent of some of the earliest wallpaper designs, created by the French Oberkampf Manufactory in the 1700s. The loose hand-drawn style is both youthful and sophisticated; utilitarian, but full-of-surprises.
