Our custom-made pillows have a hidden zipper closure along one side. This makes the pillow more versatile than a traditional envelope-closure, because either side can be used as the front. The case is easily removable for cleaning. The size indicated is the size of the case. Our fluffy pillow insert is a down feather blend and is intentionally an inch or two larger than the case for maximum puffiness.
Howard Asher drafted his designs meticulously by hand on graph paper, using ink pens and other manual supplies.
Howard Asher studied at Central St. Martins college in London in the 1960s. His work is part of the Museum & Study collection there today.
To satisfy the demand for plaid in the 1970s, Howard Asher created a huge number of geometric repeats used for double-knit apparel, like the garments in this advertisement.
This print is inspired by the archives of English textile designer Howard Asher. He is said to have created four hundred designs in a single year. His meticulous art was drafted by hand, with paper and ink, yet it has a very modern, almost pixel-like digital quality, due to the use of graph paper gridded base. Many of his designs were used for double-knit and other apparel fabrics, which lend themselves to such geometric motifs.
Named for English textile designer Howard Asher, a prolific creator of geometric double-knit designs in the 1960s and 1970s. While plaid patterns are ubiquitous throughout the centuries, plaid in fashion and home decor surged in popularity during the 1970s. The chevron motifs in this print mimic a herringbone twill weave. A graphpaper-like grid can be seen faintly throughout, in homage to the delicate hand drafting that inspired it.
