I’m thinking this Valentine’s Day about the visual language of romance and what makes an aesthetic romantic. There’s something vulnerable about design that contains a delicate extravagance. And an sincerity of taste that allows beauty and adornments to exist for their own sake, rather than some “higher” utilitarian purpose.
In that vein, what room is more romantic than a dressing room? A private space where we manifest our hopes for the day ahead. The dressing room vignette above features our most amorous textile print, Lady Edith’s Roses, in the new Gold colorway. This month I’m bringing a little romance to your inbox with a look behind this design, and a video showing how it came together!
“Home is a place not only of strong affections, but of entire unreserve;
it is life’s undress rehearsal, its backroom, its dressing room.”
– Harriet Beecher Stowe
