Get lost in nature with this delightful, lively vintage fabric floral. It is inspired by the archives of American textile house Cyrus Clark Company, of New York, circa 1970s. The source document is hand painted with gauche.
Founded by Cyrus Clark in 1925 when he returned from military service in WWI. For the next 75 years, three generations of the Clark family ran this textile company. from their office on 5th Avenue in Manhattan. The company employed a diversity of artists to create a wide range of conversational textiles for the aspirational mid-century home. They helped to popularize a durable coated fabric called chintz with the slogan “C is for Chintz by Cyrus Clark, for Charm in every room.”
Megaflora’s source artwork was drafted and painted by prolific American artist textile John Jacoby, who was known to hide butterflies in his designs. Megaflora gives a feeling of new discovery with each glance. Flora motifs include: daisy background, dandelions, primroses, peonies, jasmine, violets, 3-leaf clovers, and more. “Flowers are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty out values all the utilities in the world.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
